Your Opportunity:

This position works from the Addiction and Mental Health Community Clinic located at the Brooks Health Center in Brooks Alberta. The Mental Health Therapist works with all age groups in a community setting. Brooks Addiction and Mental Health Community Clinic has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic individual to work as a Mental Health Therapist - Generalist. If you are passionate about providing excellent Addiction & Mental Health treatment services to all age groups in community settings in Brooks, then this is the ideal career opportunity for you. If necessary, the individual in this role will be required to fill in for the clinician who regularly visits Oyen to offer in-person assessments and counseling services for clients in this community. As a Mental Health Therapist (generalist), you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment approaches to children and adults experiencing concurrent disorders or mental health issues.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy. Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or b) considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of counselling/psychotherapy. Individual or under supervision authorization to do mental health psycho-social intervention is required. For this position only: Bachelor's of Social Work or equivalent is applicable, if combined with experience in addiction and mental health counselling. Registration with one of the following regulatory colleges: ACOT, ACSW, CAP, CLPNA, CRNA or CRPNA is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 2 years of previous experience in Addiction and Mental Health or equivalent services is preferred.
