Your Opportunity:

Working as part of an addiction and mental health team, the Mental Health Therapist will provide information, assessment and treatment services to children, youth and families, as well as groups. The Mental Health Therapist Provincial – Children, Youth and Families is responsible for assessment, making a provisional diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, education and referral services for children, youth and their families as appropriate, with mental health and concurrent addiction and mental health issues. Medicine Hat located in Southeast Alberta along the South Saskatchewan River, approximately 169 km east of Lethbridge and 295 southeast of Calgary. Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: Master's degree in Psychology. Master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.
