Your Opportunity:

The city of Cold Lake, Alberta, is nestled along the shore of its namesake just a few hours northeast of Edmonton. Here, in this four-season playground, you'll find all the amenities of a larger centre without the traffic or crowds. It is home to Canada's largest air force base and has the largest inland marina in Western Canada. It's a place where nature thrives, creativity flourishes, history lives, and the future is in good hands. But there's more to Cold Lake than endless recreational opportunities, a vibrant arts and culture scene and awe-inspiring sunsets at the end of a busy day... you have to experience it yourself to understand. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, a Mental Health Therapist will be able to conduct comprehensive screening and mental status and bio-psychosocial assessments, including direct observation/examination through the collection of relevant data from the client and collateral sources. Conduct an in-depth assessment for substantial disorder of thought, mood, perception, orientation or memory that impairs judgment, behavior and capacity to recognize reality or the client’s ability to meet the ordinary demands of life. Gather background and history to understand client’s current situation and needs (e.g. biographical data, social, medical, physical systems, family history, social function, mental status examination, and risk assessment). Assess a client’s coping skills and resources, exploring family, and social support systems. Then to formulate a provisional diagnosis and implement appropriate interventions based on critical analysis, client engagement and develop collaborative treatment goals.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
