Your Opportunity:

This Mental Health Therapist (MHT) position will work with children, youth and their families in Pincher Creek and Cardston Addiction and Mental Health community clinics. The MHT is responsible for a caseload of children and adolescents with mental health issues and additional complexities such as concurrent substance use. This position will work collaboratively with other AHS professionals, community partners and natural supports to enhance the lives of these individuals in regard to mental health and concurrent disorders. Additionally the MHT will participate in health promotion activities and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of addiction and mental health resources. Pincher Creek & Cardston: The Town of Pincher Creek is a well-established community located in southern Alberta. Nestled near the mountains, Castle Mountain is a short drive away and Waterton National Park is also just a quick jaunt for all outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. With a variety of winter and summer activities and an array of amenities and tourist attractions, Pincher Creek embodies the benefits of balancing work with life. Of course, if you need some time in the city, Lethbridge is just over an hour’s drive away and Great Falls, Montana is only 4 hours away for a weekend of shopping in the states. Situated in the low foothills of southwest Alberta, the Town of Cardston is 77 km southwest of Lethbridge, Chinooks bring mild winter temperatures to the population of 3,909. Cardston has a soccer park, ball parks, a golf course, an ice skating rink, a swimming pool, tennis courts, hiking trails, a skateboard park, several recreation parks, picnic areas and playgrounds. You can take in a show at the Carriage House Theater, or go on a whitewater rafting adventure. Cardston is big prairie country with rich cowboy heritage, trail ride anyone?

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: Master's degree in Psychology. Master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a. Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or, b. Considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with: a. Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or, b. Experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Minimum of 3 years’ of relevant mental health experience. A minimum three (3) years’ of clinically relevant experience working with children, youth and families/adults. Violence Threat Risk Assessment Level I and II. Non Violent Crisis Intervention. Suicide Prevention, Risk Assessment and Management.
