This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists. Social Workers and Psychologists: Completion of bachelor degree in Social Work or Psychology. Active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW) or the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses: Completion of an accredited nursing or psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 6 years’ recent mental health experience, community experience is required. Extensive experience conducting crisis assessments is required. Ability to conduct a crisis assessment with a provisional diagnosis independently in the community. Extensive experience conducting suicide risk assessments. Experience working with multidisciplinary team and community agencies. Experience working with diverse populations. Comprehensive knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act and legislation is required. Proficient documentation skills are required. Significant comfort with working with forensic clients who may pose a danger to the community. Strong addiction and mental health assessment skills are required. Strong crisis assessment and stabilization, and counselling skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:Solid knowledge foundation of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to various clinical disorders and psychosocial and environmental problems is required. Comprehensive knowledge of co-existing medical and mental illnesses which significantly impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalized populations is required. Must be confident to work from a concurrent capable perspective.
