This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists. Social Workers and Psychologists: Completion of bachelor degree in Social Work or Psychology. Active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW) or the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses: Completion of an accredited nursing or psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years’ experience in the addiction and mental health field is required Community outreach and crisis intervention experience is required Knowledge of mental health/mental illness across populations and mental health diagnosis is required Knowledge of addiction treatment and recovery across populations is required Knowledge of the mental health system and resources within alberta health services -Calgary Zone is required Solid understanding of correctional facilities and population served Strong assessment and intervention skills required Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the continuum of services is essential Ability to work confidently, independently and within collaborative partnerships is essential Ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities Ability to thoroughly and accurately collect and document information in a timely manner is required Working knowledge of Mental Health Act and CTO legislation required Regional travel is expected Familiarity with the DSM V crucial. Experience working in the community with an advanced knowledge of relevant community resources is required. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in providing support and assistance to individuals with significant mental health and/or addiction needs. Must be a strong collaborator on an inter-disciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications:Masters preferred Knowledge of the criminal justice system/arrest and detention processes an asset Working knowledge of Forensic and Correctional systems
