Your Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Mental Health Clinician (MHC) with a strong foundation of knowledge and experience in addictions to join our team. Lander Treatment Centre is a short-term intensive, bed-based addiction treatment facility supporting adults experiencing problems as a result of their alcohol use, other drug use, or gambling. The MHC works in a structured clinical setting to improve addiction recovery outcomes by ensuring that clients with concurrent mental health issues have a treatment plan and interventions that includes attention to mental health recovery. Working under an integrated, recovery oriented and client focused care model, you will provide evidence informed screening and assessment, collaborative care planning, crisis intervention, short-term supportive counselling in individual and group settings, case consultation and referrals for clients with a range of mental health issues. By utilizing your knowledge of Addiction and Mental Health interventions, you will ensure the provision of comprehensive, high quality care promoting recovery and wellness. As the MHC, you will be required to perform psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities with persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. You will maintain accurate and appropriate documentation on client files in a timely fashion and facilitate referrals for ongoing mental health supports in the community. Excellent communication and engagement skills, strong knowledge and experience in addictions and mental health, and the ability to provide evidence based, brief counselling interventions and case management are required. Description:

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Competency and familiarity with the DSM diagnoses. A demonstrated ability to provide focused interventions to assist clients to better understand and manage their mental health symptoms. A strong foundation of knowledge and experience working with clients who have substance use concerns. Applicants with a Master of Counselling must be registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience facilitating individual and group therapy in an adult mental health outpatient/inpatient setting. Experience working in an inpatient/outpatient addiction treatment setting. Formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). If registered with ACSW, preference to those candidates with authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions.
