Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: a Master¿s degree in Psychology, a Bachelor¿s degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master¿s or Bachelor¿s degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor¿s degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor¿s degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years directly related experience working in the addiction and mental health field. Community and crisis experience. Strong knowledge of addictions and mental health disorders across the populations and experience in using the DSM – V diagnostic system. Strong working knowledge of the addictions and mental health system and resources with AHS Edmonton Zone. Strong clinical thinking, assessment and intervention skills including crisis intervention. Ability to manage a wide variety of clinical situations with varying levels of acuity and heterogenous client population. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively liaison with various professionals. Ability to work confidently, independently and within collaborative partnerships. Ability to thoroughly and accurately collect and document information in a timely manner. Efficient computer skills. Heart and Stroke BLS Level C – Health Care Provider. Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with intellectual disability, neurodevelopmental disorders, serious mental health conditions and working with multiple systems/stakeholders. Training in general addiction and mental health assessment. Case management preferably in community setting.
