Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years recent mental health experience; acute community experience required. Experience working with multidisciplinary team and community agencies. Experience working with diverse populations and ability to engage in culturally sensitive interactions. Solid knowledge foundation of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to clinical disorders and psychosocial and environmental problems. Solid knowledge foundation of the Diagnostic and Statistics Manual (DSM) and ability to formulate an accurate provisional diagnosis. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant community resources and legislation. Strong mental health assessment, crisis management and counselling skills. High degree of creative and flexibility as well as the ability to work independently and to engage and work with a diverse client population. Good interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; superior interpersonal skills. Ability to set priorities and organize time efficiently. Ability to work in stressful, demanding and changing conditions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a centre-wide multidisciplinary team. Good computer and typing skills. Good problem-solving skills and superior clinical judgment.
