Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Certification from an accredited Medical Transcription Program.
Additional Qualifications:Experience as a Medical Transcriptionist in a large hospital setting that includes multiple specialties, in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Superior knowledge of provincial Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT), Dictation/Speech Recognition/Transcription (DST), Clinical Information System (CIS), Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and Electronic Health Record (EHR), reporting, monitoring, and evaluation. Ability to operate technical equipment (dictation and transcription hardware and software). Critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail. Proven abilities in complex problem solving, concerns resolution, investigation, and negotiation. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, and client focused orientation with commitment to providing quality services.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Access and Disclosure and privacy policies. Experience in initiating and fostering positive relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. Completion of communications and/or trainer coursework is an asset. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development is an asset.
