Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Certification from an accredited Medical Transcription Program.
Additional Required Qualifications:A Health Information Management Diploma may be considered combined with an appropriate combination of experience. Minimum two years of experience as a Medical Transcriptionist in a large hospital setting that includes multiple specialties, in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Excellent knowledge of reporting, monitoring, and evaluation within provincial Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) systems, Dictation/Speech Recognition/Transcription (DST) Escription software, Clinical Information System (CIS), Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and Electronic Health Record (EHR) . Exceptional problem solving ability, critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail. Superior verbal communication skills and focus on teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Access and Disclosure and privacy policies. Completion of communications and/or trainer coursework is an asset. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development is an asset.
