Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Certification from an accredited Medical Transcription Program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of medical terminology related to oncology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology and the various medical specialties. Knowledge of medical transcription Book of Style guidelines, and practices. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. Ability to use designated reference materials. Ability to operate designated word processing, dictation and central transcription equipment and other equipment as specified. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to concentrate and attention to detail. Excellent listening skills. Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination. Accurate typing speed of 65 WPM or more and edit/transcribe 17.00 minutes per hour. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based PC environment/applications/network environment. Ability to make mature judgments, communicate effectively, promote positive working relationships and work as a team player. Able to lift 10 kg.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet established departmental turnaround times. Recent experience editing medical dictation using dictation system with integrated speech recognition. Accurate transcription speed of 17 minutes per hour. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required, especially MS Office 2013 with Skype 2015. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including English language usage, grammar, punctuation and style. Knowledge of medical records organization an asset.
