Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Certification from an accredited Medical Transcription Program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Two years recent medical transcription experience in a health records/transcription environment is required. Knowledge of medical terminology related to oncology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology and the various medical specialties. Knowledge of medical transcription Book of Style guidelines, and practices. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Accurate typing speed of 65 WPM. Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. Ability to use designated reference materials. Ability to operate designated word processing, dictation and central transcription equipment and other equipment as specified. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to concentrate and attention to detail. Excellent listening skills. Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to individuals with at least two years recent experience transcribing Oncology reports. EditScript experience will be an asset. Knowledge of computerized hospital information systems and central dictation systems preferred.
