Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services has an exciting opportunity for a Board Certification Eligible Medical Physicist (BCEMP) to join our growing Radiation Medicine Oncology. This is a permanent posting for a BCEMP who has completed a CAMPEP residency but has yet to complete their CCPM or DABR certification exams. This BECMP will provide support for the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre, through a mix of remote and on-site support. The BCMEP may be located at another cancer centre in the province providing radiation therapy (Lethbridge, Calgary, Red Deer, or Edmonton) for remote work, and will travel to Grande Prairie at a frequency and duration determined by local clinical need, or as negotiated. Once sufficient full time on-site GPCC physics support is hired, the remote BCEMP may permanently join the staff of the cancer centre they’ve been working remotely from. Note that both a directed residency and a directed bridging program are in place to ensure future on site staffing. You will assist with all the usual duties of a medical physicist, including working with the quality assurance program, assisting with implementation of new treatment or planning techniques, performing quality checks on the radiation treatment planning process, assisting in the drafting, implementation, and review of policy as needed, but all under consultation with certified AHS medical physicists. As one of four Regional Cancer Centres within Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), GPCC provides high quality safe patient care and promotes the inclusion of patients and families in care decisions to enhance their patient experience. A growing city with close to 70,000 residents Grand Prairie is located in northwest Alberta featuring big city amenities alongside majestic rural beauty and adventure. Importantly, the GPRH is bringing Cancer Care closer to home for the 400,000 Albertans living in the North Zone.
