Your Opportunity:

The Department of Medical Physics is seeking Radiation Oncology and MR-certified Medical Physicists to support pre-installation work and commissioning at the new Calgary Cancer Centre, as well as ongoing clinical service at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Scheduled to open to the public in 2023, the 1.4billion dollar Calgary Cancer Centre will be a leading health care facility, academic, and research centre that will provide cancer services for Calgary and Southern Alberta. For more information on the CCC planning, design and construction, please visit our website. The CCC will have 10 Linacs, 2 MR-Linacs at opening with a total of 15 vaults. There will be two MRIs dedicated for simulation and brachytherapy, as well as orthovoltage, a CT simulator, and a PET-CT simulator. Clinical radiotherapy programs at the current Tom Baker Cancer Centre in brachytherapy, SBRT, TBI, pediatric cancers and stereotactic radiosurgery will be transitioned to the CCC. Medical physics assistants, electronics, design lab and computer applications groups, as well as medical physicist residents & fellows, will support commissioning and clinical development programs. Description:

Teams of physicists, physics assistants will receive and commission QA equipment, inspect rooms and support the design-build process, and develop procedures and documentation. Commissioning plans will be developed and completed for all simulators and linacs. Clinical workflows and techniques will be developed to enable all treatment techniques, such as total body irradiation, SRS, SBRT, CNS irradiation and pediatrics, to be transitioned to the new CCC. Physicists will work with physics assistants and electronics staff to support the design and set-up of these radiation medicine information systems and associated applications. The MR-Linac physics team will work with radiation oncology and radiation therapy to define patient selection criteria, a standardization framework for protocolized treatment, anatomical and functional imaging and adaptive radiotherapy. The physics team will also define commissioning and quality assurance programs, as well as the training and education plan. Medical physicists will work in collaboration with oncologists and therapists to develop MR-based brachytherapy programs. They will train and educate the end users for this program, in addition to defining the quality control program and commissioning plan. The Department of Medical Physics at TBCC has active teaching and research programs. Required Qualifications:

PhD in Medical Physics or related discipline. Completion of an accredited residency program and eligible for certification through the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine or equivalent. Demonstrated commitment to the highest clinical standards and highly developed interpersonal, team work, organizational and leadership skills are also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Member of Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine. Experience in clinical medical physics beyond the residency level is an asset.
