Your Opportunity:

The Medical Informatics Education Lead (MIEL) is a key member of the Connect Care Specialist Training Program that is responsible for supporting, development, and facilitation of the learning team in the implementation and support of Connect Care CIS initiative. This position is a key member of the office of the Chief Medical Information Officer and aids in the development, support and delivery of a training program focused on physicians and advanced care providers. Additionally, the MIEL provides effective communication and direction in the deployment of the CIS applications and collaborates with clinical operations along with Information Technology to ensure all aspects of learning are prepared for Connect Care milestones.

Description:

The MIEL will work with Physician Trainers, Senior Trainers, as well as clinical operations for the roll-out of CIS learning to end-users in all Alberta Health Services and affiliate partners. The MIEL collaborates with the multi-disciplinary learning team and clinical champions for the development and evaluation of learning materials for CIS applications end-user learning. This individual works with Clinical and Operations leaders and the learning team to define, plan, implement and evaluate the learning required to ensure smooth change management with minimal disruption to clinical operations. The successful candidate must be competent to work at the highest technical level of implementation and support of systems while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future training environment. This role will also assist Connect Care leaders aligning electronic medical record (EMR) vision with the intent and delivery method of learning in preparation for go live and beyond.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree required. A minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience, preferably roles in the provision of healthcare or a strong working knowledge and intimate understanding of healthcare delivery. Working knowledge of the Alberta Health Services and the Clinical Informatics function. Customer facing experience bridging business, IT, clinical, and clinical support services, across the breadth and depth of a large healthcare organization.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven strong organization skills, excellent communication and interview skills, excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Ability to learn and use electronic clinical information systems. Ability to think systematically and critically, create value or business cases, inform and develop strategy, and engage others in same. Experience managing risk and dependencies. Experience in process improvement. Experience in planning, communication, facilitation, coordination of multiple projects/operational work packages. Experience mentoring and supporting junior staff. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Self-motivated with little supervision Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting, computer work.


Preferred Qualifications:

Adult Education Experience or Training. Clinical background preferred. Experience delivering training an asset. 5+ years healthcare experience. 3+ years in health informatics or relevant experience. CPHIMS/CPHIMS-CA certification.
