Manager - Labour Delivery & Postpartum

Are you a dynamic, compassionate leader with a passion for advancing maternal and newborn care? Red Deer Regional Hospital (RDRHC) Women and Children’s department is seeking a dedicated Manager to lead our Labour & Delivery, Antepartum, Postpartum, Women’s Operating/Recovery Room, Triage, and Obstetrical Clinic teams at RDRHC. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. You will play a leadership role in supporting staff, fostering innovation, and ensuring operational excellence across a range of specialized women’s health services.
Description:
Provide strategic and operational leadership for Labour & Delivery, Antepartum, Postpartum, Women’s OR/Recovery, Triage, and Obstetrical Clinic services. Foster a positive, supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, professional development, and staff engagement. Ensure safe, high-quality patient care, that aligns with AHS standards, policies, and best practices. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, allied health, and other partners to enhance service delivery and patient experience. Oversee daily operations, including staffing, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management. Lead quality improvement initiatives, monitor performance metrics, and implement evidence-based practices. Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to maintain a strong, skilled workforce. Promote a culture of respect, equity, and inclusion for both staff and patients.

Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in acute care, preferably in maternal/child health. Must have a minimum of 5 years of recent, hands-on expertise in Level II or III Labour and Delivery, Women’s Health, or Obstetrics programs. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, patient & family centered focus and commitment to providing quality services. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals. Experience with managing within a unionized sector. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related healthcare field is desirable. (Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered). Obstetrical operating room experience preferred. History of supporting Accreditation preferred. Certifications in STORC, NRP, ACORN, Breastfeeding/Lactation Consultant.
