Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Inpatient Medicine & Ambulatory Care this dynamic and exciting Manager position is responsible for the overall leadership of Patient Care Units 36 and 46 at the Foothills Medical Centre. Unit 46 is a 48-bed high acuity Internal Medicine Unit. Unit 36 is a 39-bed high acuity Internal Medicine Unit which is the home base of the Medical Teaching Unit / program at FMC. It boasts an exclusive internal medicine-owned cardiac monitoring program and is a proud partner with the Ward of the 21st Century.

Description:

The Manager performs a key leadership role in the organization. The Manager is responsible for various duties, which include but are not limited to: participating in strategic planning, identifying budget requirements (human, material, and capital resources) to safely meet patient needs, managing of expenditures and variance analysis, establishing and maintaining standards of practice, hiring and managing performance of professional and support staff, creating and sustaining a healthy work environment, and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders and facilitating the implementation of changes to structure and processes in order to accomplish improved outcomes in patient satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree from a recognized health program is required. Current College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or health profession registration required. Previous supervisory/management experience. Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Self-directed and highly motivated. Analytical, organizational, planning, teaching, decision-making, and financial management skills. Positive, creative perspective, high energy to support regional initiatives. Experience with staff management and performance evaluation. Demonstrated ability to desire to balance needs of patients and staff. Demonstrated proficient budget management and the ability to be process based and results- oriented. Demonstrated capability to work within a multidisciplinary team, and to manage with a collaborative, flexible approach. Basic computer skills are required information in this field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s level preparation is preferred. Five years leadership experience with demonstrated clinical competence and knowledge of the Department of Medicine is preferred.
