Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for a collaborative and innovative leader to join the Medical Portfolio at Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) as the Unit Manager for Unit 71 Transition Unit. Unit 71 is a specialized sub-acute care unit focused on patients who require continued medical management, interdisciplinary rehabilitation, discharge planning, and facilitation to safe transitions of care. The unit is committed to delivering high-quality, patient and family-centered care that is safe, evidence-informed, and responsive to the needs of a diverse patient population in our evolving healthcare system.

Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Units 71 and 72, the Unit Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administrative, operational, and clinical leadership of Unit 71. In collaboration with the Manager, the Unit Manager supports patient care delivery, staffing, resource utilization, quality improvement, patient flow, and achievement of organizational goals. Key responsibilities include recruitment, scheduling, performance management, staff development, clinical oversight, and fostering a positive and respectful work environment by consistently role modelling AHS values. The Unit Manager works closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, families, and community partners to support quality care, discharge planning, and successful transitions across the continuum of care. The successful incumbent should be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Ability to balance multiple, competing demands and conflicting priorities. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, based on a framework of patient and family centered care, safety, and quality improvement. Effective facilitator of proven change management principles within teams, and ability to motivate others to achieve organizational goals. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Inter-professional and inter-personal conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or related healthcare degree required. Minimum of 3-5 years in management/clinical leadership, CNE or NC role. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability with decision-making, coaching, staffing, scheduling, performance management and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Master level preparation in Nursing other healthcare profession or Administration an asset.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Self-directed and highly motivated. Demonstrated analytical, organizational, communication and financial skills. Strong commitment to lead an interdisciplinary team to achieve common goals, manage competing priorities, and support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years in a leadership role (Supervisory, NC, or CNE) with experience in sub-acute, rehabilitation, transition, or acute care settings, along with experience in patient flow, discharge planning, and care transitions. Experience in leading/supporting quality improvement projects, or completion of certifications such as Change Management Certification (i.e. AHS PROSCI or equivalent) would be considered strong assets.
