Description:

This exciting position is an opportunity to impact the provision of safe and effective patient care at the Brooks Health Centre as the Unit Manager for the Brooks Acute Care unit and the Brooks Health Centre Surgical program. The Acute Care unit is a 28-bed unit that includes both medical/surgical patient care as well as obstetric services. Brooks Health Centre is the second largest health centre in the Southeast Corridor and provides health care services to the residents of Brooks and the surrounding area. Services offered at Brooks Health Centre include acute inpatient services, obstetric services, emergency department, surgical services as well as Public Health, Long term Care, Home Care and Addiction and Mental Health have departments located in the Brooks Health Centre. Brooks is home to approximately 15,000 people and has been referred to as the city of “100 Hellos” due to it being a vibrant multicultural city. It offers a full range of services to the residents including multiple schools, the JBS Leisure Centre, and is home to the Alberta Junior Hockey League Brooks Bandits. Brooks is close to three outdoor recreation areas including Dinosaur Provincial Park Tillebrook Provincial Park, and Kinbrook Island Provincial Park. Brooks is only a 1-hour drive away from Medicine Hat and is a 2-hour drive away from Calgary.

Required Qualifications:

Registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

As required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors level education. Minimum of 3 years of management experience, in the past 5 years. Clear pattern of professional and personal development. Familiar with change management processes and principles.
