Come join our amazing Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) Central Zone Rural Team as a Long Term Care Manager in Drayton Valley! The Long Term Care (LTC) Manager collaborates with other leaders and departments to ensure residents receive high quality care in a safe, competent and ethical manner. The LTC Manager is the liaison with zonal departments, affiliated hospitals, site and medical staff, external organizations and communities in order to coordinate and integrate resident programs and services within the continuing care setting. The Manager provides leadership to the site in keeping with ALA policies and procedures. The position ensures continuity of day to day operations of the department. The LTC Manager is a key position to lead the team of staff working within the unit fostering a culture that reflects ALA values and facilitates strong, healthy relationships between teams and disciplines working at the site. As the Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Director. You will play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to resident care, health promotions and health maintenance. The Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective framework for the operations of resident care services in order to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and safe resident care. You will be implementing and monitoring your portfolio's budget while undertaking risk management, quality assurance and utilization of information in this field.
Description:
Reporting to the Seniors Health Director, the LTC Manager will work in conjunction with the Director and other programmatic leaders to facilitate and implement clinical guidelines and standards of care. The Manager will utilize established procedures and practices and will be provided mentoring through the Director and management team. The Manager will be responsible for setting realistic and ambitious department goals, and assist the Director to facilitate changes to service provision if required. Will work in collaboration with other Care Managers and as part of the Seniors Health operational team where awareness of care and management activities cross programmatic accountabilities. Required to support responsibility for management coverage for days off, vacation and sick relief for the other Managers as needed. The Manager would be responsible for recruitment activities, staff evaluations, performance appraisals, coaching and development and will provides input, feedback and implementation assistance on Human Resources policies and procedures. This role would assist in implementing, monitoring and maintaining budgets and would participate in capital upgrade planning and prepare requests as well as monitoring department budgets, conducting monthly variance reviews to identify possible causes and provide potential solutions. This role will develop a trusting relationship with residents/families utilizing effective communication skills and ensuring transparency and respect during the process. This role will consult with Patient Concerns if required or in the best interest of the resident/family.

Baccalaureate degree in nursing required; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector may be considered. Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). A minimum of 5 within the last 3 years experience in a supervisory role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. A minimum of 3 within the last 5 years experience in LTC or Home Care. Must have valid driver’s license. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long-term projects and deliver customer focused results. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst the team and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of five years’ nursing experience in Continuing Care and/or Acute Care. Minimum of two years’ management experience within a unionized environment. Knowledge and understanding of CCHSS, Accreditation, Accommodation Standards.
