Calgary Zone's Environmental Public Health Team is seeking an energetic and effective leader who would be responsible for leading a team of Public Health Inspectors and coordinating various operational programs within the regulatory activities prescribed by Alberta's Public Health Act and its pursuant regulations.
Description:
This leadership position will supervise a team of Public Health Inspectors and contribute to zone operational planning, delivery and evaluation for all Environmental Public Health program areas. This leader will be expected to identify staff training and development needs as part of their role. They are expected to monitor and ensure compliance with AHS policies and allocate resources based on the operational needs of the team. Reporting to the Calgary Zone Director, this leader will assess and report the effectiveness of programs and activities based on quantifiable outcomes and measures as defined by Safe Healthy Environments and Calgary Zone's workforce planning. This front-line leadership position typically demands full-time hours, Monday to Friday with a weekly on-call rotation of one of every five weeks. Some travel is required to support operations in various districts within the Calgary Zone service area. This leader will work with three other operational managers and contribute to zone workforce priority planning and delivery of Environmental Public Health programs. Generally, the leadership position requires on-site leadership and supervisory oversite from the Southport location.

The successful candidate must have a post-secondary or graduate degree in management or a related public health field. A graduate degree is preferred or a commitment to obtain the same within a reasonable timeframe. The successful candidate must be a member of good standing with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors and have a Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada).
