The Northern Lights Regional Health Centre is looking for a special individual who has a desire to inspire and support a dedicated team of professionals in providing quality patient and family-centred care as the Manager of the Inpatient Surgery and Medical Device Reprocessing units on an interim basis. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:
The Unit Manager Inpatient Surgery and Medical Device Reprocessing performs a leadership role within each department and reports directly to the Director of Patient Care. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization over the activities of the patient care service in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. In addition, this position is responsible for making key decisions and direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievements of the patient care service goals specific to these areas. The Unit Manager of Inpatient Surgery and Medical Device Reprocessing is also responsible for: Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Director within the services area. The development and maintenance of an effective framework for the operations of the patient care service in order to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and safe patient care.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program – Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current CPR (BCLS-HCP). Minimum 3 years within the last five years of experience in a medical or surgical unit.
Additional Required Qualifications:As required.
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in a health-related discipline. Previous management or leadership experience. Change management training such as AIW (Alberta Improvement Way) or equivalent Quality Improvement methodology (Lean, Six Sigma) training. Experience using Connect Care.
