WestView Health Centre-Stony Plain is seeking an outstanding health care leader for the position of Manager, Emergency and Respiratory Therapy. Reporting to the Site Director, the Manager Emergency and Respiratory Therapy implements the values of AHS by ensuring the provision of high quality and safe patient care, through the effective and efficient management of human, material, and financial resources. The Manager leads and directs the multidisciplinary team in the provision of excellent care of patients in the Emergency Department. The Manager is responsible for recruitment, retention, hiring, coaching, mentoring and performance management of staff. In collaboration with the physician dyad, you monitor outcomes and performance indicators to evaluate and lead ongoing quality improvement of the program and service delivery. The Manager is accountable for ensuring daily operational staffing within Collective Agreements and accurately manage budget expenditures.

The Manager is responsible for supporting the mission of the Alberta Health Services by ensuring the provision of exemplary patient care, education, and research in an atmosphere that preserves the dignity and rights of patients and their families. This is accomplished through the provision of excellent patient care, the delivery of patient and staff education, and the introduction of research initiatives while demonstrating the core values of the organization. Reporting to the Site Director, the Manager - has accountability for the Emergency and Respiratory Therapy departments and is responsible for participating in strategic planning and identifying budget requirements (human, material and capital resources) to safely meet patient needs. The incumbent is also responsible for the management of expenditures and variance analysis; establishing and maintaining standards of practice; hiring and evaluating performance of professional and ancillary staff; creating and sustaining a healthy work environment including Workplace Health and Safety issues. This position facilitates the implementation of changes to structure and processes in order to accomplish improved outcomes in patient satisfaction, quality of care, and cost containment. The Manager establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with the site Medical Leads, the WestView Health Centre leadership teams and AHS program teams to ensure quality Emergency and Respiratory Therapy services.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum of 5 years Emergency clinical experience, and at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role. Current professional registration in good standing. Requires strong management and leadership skills. Requires advanced decision making, negotiation, communication and conflict management, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent writing skills required with ability to respond to short timelines. Proven understanding of quality and patient safety. Proven ability to develop and lead teams. A strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is also necessary. Demonstrated advocacy for patient and family centered care.
