Your Opportunity:

AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Rural Acute Care Site Manager at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre, with responsibility for leadership of the teams providing care in acute care, the emergency department, endoscopy program and management of these program areas. In this position you will support a dynamic healthcare team, and a diverse patient population living and working in a rural community. Your role includes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. In this role, you will support the portfolio vision of engaged, supported, and valued people, and have accountability for the delivery of safe, high quality, consistent, patient and family-centred care. As part of the CenZ Rural Acute Care leadership team, you will support and advance quality improvement, patient care, and staff engagement through strong working relationships, and in collaboration with colleagues, staff, community agencies, and regional services. Reporting to the Director, Acute Care North West, and in partnership with the other local managers, you will provide staff and program leadership through demonstrated consistency of practice, competence as a leader, as well as commitment to the team, and to the overall purpose and vision of the portfolio, and the organization.

Description:

The Rural Acute Manager is responsible to provide staff and program leadership clinical operations in acute care and the Emergency Department at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care center. In addition, this position will have the opportunity to inform and support the implementation of local, zonal, and/or provincial initiatives. Key areas of responsibility include ensuring the effective deployment of human resources (scheduling, rotations, skill mix etc…), and creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace where staff feel engaged, supported, and valued, and can do their best work every day. This could include but is not limited to supporting just in time learning, coaching, mentoring, orientation, and ongoing staff training and development. Additionally, the manager will ensure the appropriate allocation of fiscal and capital resources across the area of accountability and understand and report on the operating budget in accordance with established AHS policies and practices. It is expected the manager will foster a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure the ongoing delivery of safe, high-quality, consistent patient and family centred care.

Required Qualifications:

A post-secondary degree in a health profession, health administration, leadership or other comparable degree Registration with an Alberta Regulated Health Profession, as appropriate. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional development (e.g. continuing education courses)


Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated effective problem solving Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to foster relationships to further the effectiveness of both the site(s) managed and programs contained within Knowledge and understanding of Collective agreements and working with a unionized workforce Discretion with sensitive situations, data, and personnel Ability to work hard, have fun & contribute to a dynamic, successful healthcare team


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading healthcare teams & providing innovative solutions to complex system issues Proven coaching skills to support team members to reach their full potential Experience in a leadership role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity Strong knowledge of Rural Acute Care, Emergency, Labour & Delivery, Surgical Services & the corresponding complexities
