Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field (e.g. economics, statistics).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience in grant/donor financial reporting and compliance for large and complex clients in a public sector setting. Experience in GST matters preferable with regards to Public Sector and/or Not-for-profit organizations. Knowledge of tax return preparation including charity returns and T2s. Strong working knowledge of Oracle-R12 (ability to run, understand reports including related MIS standards), MS Office Suite applications specifically Excel and Word. Knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement preparation for large and complex clients in a public sector setting. Experience in managing a single entity financial statement audit including the preparation of the required audited financial statements. Proven ability to work with various stakeholders including donors. Ability to work within tight reporting deadlines. Ability to function within a collaborative team environment. Excellent communication, analytical and organization skills. Ability to work independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA Accounting designation is preferred. Other accounting designations plus relevant experience may also be considered. Demonstrated strong and current understanding of Public Sector Accounting Standards. Over 7 years of accounting/financial reporting experience with preference given to grant reporting and financial audit experience within a large, complex public sector entity is preferred. Demonstrated and recent experience in leading, managing and mentoring professional finance staff.
