Required Qualifications:

Masters degree required in public health, health promotion, or related field. A minimum of 5 years in a leadership and program planning, implementation and evaluation role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity (healthcare experience is an asset). Demonstrated knowledge management skills. Demonstrated literature review skills. Demonstrated evaluation skills. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Progressive leadership experience in a health environment, including 3-5 years’ experience in a management role in child and youth health, adult health, oral health, and/or population health promotion.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Effective communicator with strong organizational and influential skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and mentoring, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and establish priorities to meet the short- and long-term operational needs. Demonstrated effectiveness in the ability to initiate, implement and support new or modified approaches, practices and processes in a changing environment. Demonstrated ability to engage key partners and stakeholders in change management process, understand the impact on both internal and external stakeholders and manage risks and benefits accordingly. Ability to manage human, financial, and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships, achieve organizational goals and experience managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining staff engagement. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to plan, organize and manage short- and long-term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other partners.


Preferred Qualifications:

Registration with an appropriate Alberta Regulated Health Profession is preferred. Public health nursing experience is preferred.
