Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or technical certification in a related field required or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines where boiler support is necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:Successful applicant must have a Grade 12 High School diploma supplemented by one-year technical training from a recognized educational institution in a related field or a 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate. Must have 3-5 years Lead hand or supervisory experience and be confidant delegating work tasks to others. Must have 3-5 years previous experience with mechanical, architectural, or structural building systems in a hospital environment. Must be familiar with a variety of tools and equipment used in the maintenance program including groundskeeping and snow removal equipment. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing. Must be familiar with all applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures, and consistently apply them in daily operations. Must have the ability to perform physical activity including but not limited to: lifting (up to 20kg), pushing/pulling, (up to 150 kg) with regular frequency and be able to walk, crouch, stand, kneel or reach above shoulders for extended periods of time. Candidate must also be available for an on-call weekly rotation. Successful incumbent must live within 30 minutes of facility for emergency situations.
