If so, the South Health Campus’ Facilities, Maintenance, & Engineering (FM&E) team has an amazing opportunity for a Maintenance Worker IV, who can display their skills in Building Operations, while offering team-focused commitment and positive attitude. The Maintenance Worker IV position is responsible for providing functional knowledge and support of Heating and Cooling systems, AHU's, Fire Alarm, Water Treatment, and overall building operation, all while understanding the importance of Facility, in Patient Focused Care environments, and a commitment to put Patients and Family Centered Care as a priority in decision making. Primary Focus and Duties include but not limited to: Planned Maintenance (PM) duties on a variety of building operation systems such as Pumps,Chillers, AHU's, and overall facility rounds, ensuring commitment to safety and communication, makes recommendations on or implements a preventative maintenance schedule, logs or maintains records on work performed; Demand Maintenance (DM) duties providing assessment, repairs and follow up on a variety of tasks such as: plumbing leaks and blockages, locates or traces mechanical malfunctions, repairs or replaces worn parts and reassembles, performs a number of skilled duties independently and assists the journeyperson or other maintenance staff with various maintenance, installation or repair projects, coordinates equipment transfers to Bedshop, may assign and provide work direction to the maintenance team. Provides first point of contact on evenings and weekends, responds to emergency codes and performs other related duties as required. Works closely with and supports Power Engineer on shift. There are 2 positions available.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker IV, you will perform a variety of highly skilled and complex maintenance and repair work requiring considerable initiative and judgment in determining the appropriate work methods consistent with standards, regulations and procedures. You will utilize your supervisory and/or maintenance skills and experience to perform preventative maintenance and repair duties on specialized equipment and building control systems, and to provide leadership and direction to other maintenance staff in order to meet operational requirements. In addition, you will perform specialized machine repairs, as well as the maintenance and monitoring of systems and equipment. You may be responsible to resolve escalated operational issues; act as a delegate for the Manager on operational issues; participate in the recruitment and selection of new staff; assisting the design and implementation of preventative maintenance programs; estimate project costs; and liaise with outside agencies and contractors.

Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or technical certification in a related field required or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines where boiler support is necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:As required.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in building maintenance, architectural, plumbing, electrical, structural and associated HVAC / medical gas systems maintenance in a Healthcare setting. Familiar dealing with and coordinating a variety of contractors and keeping safety standards a priority.
