Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade 12 High School diploma supplemented by one-year technical training from a recognized educational institution in a related field or 4th Class (or 5th class) Power Engineer Certificate. Intermediate technical/professional experience (i.e. 3-5 years) required. Five years previous experience in building, mechanical and/or architectural, structural and associated systems. Must be familiar with a variety of architectural and mechanical tools and equipment used in the maintenance program. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing. Be familiar with established safety rules, regulations and procedures. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis. Ability to perform physical activity including, but not limited to, lifting (up to 20kg), pushing/pulling, (up to 150 kg), and with regular frequency able to be walking couching, standing, crawling, reaching above shoulders.
Preferred Qualifications:One to two years previous maintenance experience in an institutional setting preferred.
