Maintenance Worker II
Your Opportunity:
This position reports to the Facility Manager. The successful candidate will be a semi-skilled individual and responsible for small projects in general maintenance and renovation work. This individual will assist the tradesmen as needed and often works on projects alone. Job duties that are part of this opportunity include, but are not limited to snow removal, set up and removal of construction hoarding, drywall installation, flood release response and remediation and miscellaneous structural work around the campus. The primary location will be at the Royal Alexandra Hospital but if an event unfolds, this person may be asked to work at other sites within the zone. Potential multi-site duties as directed by FM&E Director or Management.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform a wide range of general maintenance duties including maintenance and repair of drywall, floors and painting. Additional duties may include minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment for pressure and temperature; and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required where boiler support is necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must be able to communicate with coworkers, staff and clientele in a respectful and courteous manner at all times. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing. Understanding and experience with both hand tools and power tools is required. Must be able to work in a hospital environment and work around traumatic events that occur in a hospital setting.
Preferred Qualifications:Grade 12 Diploma. Apprentice in registered trade will be an asset. Able to organize workloads and ensure duties are completed in a timely manner. Experience with renovations, steel stud construction, drywall installation and drywall / plaster wall repairs would be an asset. Experience with water release / remediation and hoarding would be an asset. Prior previous experience as a Carpenter’s Helper or a Plasterer’s Helper desirable. Basic computer skills and aptitudes would be an asset.
