Maintenance Worker II
Your Opportunity:
Under limited supervision, this position performs a variety of skilled mechanical maintenance and repair duties on various types of equipment, buildings and grounds in consultation with the Facility maintenance site lead and in accordance with accepted standards, regulations and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for completing preventative and demand work orders within the e-Facilities maintenance management system. Responsibilities: Reading and interpreting blueprints schematics and wiring diagrams. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Plumbing installation and repair. Door hardware and locks. Drywall repair and painting. Demonstrate the ability to work well with others and independently. Understands the importance of confidentiality. The Maintenance Worker II has frequent physical demands which include extensive standing, walking, bending and lifting of heavy equipment and supplies. Grounds maintenance utilizing various pieces of equipment.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform a wide range of general maintenance duties including maintenance and repair of drywall, floors and painting. Additional duties may include minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment for pressure and temperature; and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required where boiler support is necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must be familiar with established rules, regulations, and procedures. Report any unsafe conditions which may cause injury or damage to equipment to supervisor. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Valid Class 5 Driver's License. Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools. Must be able to make informed, timely decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:Grade 12 or equivalent. One year of Health Care facility experience is desired. Knowledge of building maintenance and repair. Able to operate grounds equipment. Knowledge of Infectious control measures within a hospital is desired.
