Maintenance Worker II
Your Opportunity:
The University of Alberta Hospital, Facilities Maintenance & Engineering Department is looking to hire a Maintenance Worker ll position. This position will report to the FME Management Team & will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and functionality of the various UAH facilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of both patients and staff by performing essential maintenance tasks, including routine inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on various systems and equipment. The Maintenance Worker II position will be responsible for various tasks, including drywall installation/repairs, painting, wall protection, flooring repairs, door installations & repair of hardware, installation and maintenance of various types of millwork, snow removal, exterior maintenance repairs to walkways and grounds areas. The MII position will also be responsible for assisting Trade level positions and other FME maintenance staff as needed. As a maintenance worker, you will be responsible for addressing routine maintenance items and urgent issues that arise. This role not only provides a chance to develop your technical skills but also allows you to make a meaningful impact in a healthcare setting, where your efforts directly support the delivery of quality care.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform a wide range of general maintenance duties including maintenance and repair of drywall, floors and painting. Additional duties may include minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment for pressure and temperature; and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required where boiler support is necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:General Trade Knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of facilities maintenance experience. Experience with responding to floods and leaks in a healthcare setting.
