Description:
As a Maintenance Worker I, you may perform routine tasks related to grounds keeping and facility maintenance. Working independently and/or as part of team, you may maintain lawns, flowerbeds, trees and shrubs, collect and dispose garbage, remove snow and ice, spread salt and sand, clean mechanical rooms and shop areas, and assist tradespeople and other maintenance staff as needed.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:Valid Class 5 driver’s license required. Basic work-related experience required (i.e. 0-1 years). Must be familiar with basic tools and equipment used in the maintenance department. Able operate motorized equipment such as garden tractors, small engines such as gas-powered backpack blowers, walk behind mowers and string trimmers. Cooperative and willingness to perform routine repetitive tasks on a continuous basis. Strong interpersonal skills and able to work independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision. Able to work in the following conditions: extreme temperatures, hot and cold, noisy, high vibration and dusty or fumes. Physically fit, able to lift to 20 kg. Sustained kneeling crouching or walking. Half mask/N95.
Preferred Qualifications:Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent required. 2 months technical training program (i.e., Carpentry, mechanical, equipment operator, electrical or 5th Class Power Engineer certificate) is an asset. Previous grounds keeping experience, ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment such as commercial lawn mowers/small tractors and irrigation systems is preferred.
