This Care Manager, Senior’s Health position will be covering Long Term Care and Home Care in High Level, Fort Vermilion, Paddle Prairie and Rainbow Lake. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.
Description:
The Care Manager, Seniors Health performs a leadership role in Seniors Health and reports to the Area 1 Seniors Health Manager. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of Seniors Health within a specific area(s) in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The position is responsible and accountable for making front line unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Seniors Health. The Care Manager, Seniors Health will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and demonstrate the leadership competencies of the Manager Competency Profile. The Care Manager will be required to travel and provide on site leadership to the teams in the communities that this position oversees.

Three to five years in a health care provider role and a minimum of one year working in a leadership capacity. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or an applicable healthcare related education or background. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client/resident focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
Rural nursing, Long Term Care, Supportive Living, Seniors Health or Homecare experience preferred.
