Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

ER/ UCC experience required. Minimum 1 year LPN experience required. Some knowledge of basic telemetry. Demonstrated competencies in assessment, planning and implementation of patient care. Must be prepared to work to full scope of practice; blood glucose monitoring, medication administration (po, sc, IV). Evidence of integrity, initiative, sound judgment, strong critical thinking skills, required. Demonstrated accountability for own practice. Ability to work as a member of an integrated team and to request and accept direction as required. Demonstrated commitment to professional development. Excellent interpersonal and team communication skills. Ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads. Good mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position required. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.

Preferred Qualifications:

3-5 years urgent care /emergency experience preferred. Recent rural nursing, an asset. Pediatric experience as asset. An understanding of the concepts and delivery of nursing care in an Urgent Care Centre, an asset. Certification in IV push medication administration preferred. Vaccination course preferred.
