Licensed Practical Nurse - Operating Room Technician
Your Opportunity:
The Licensed Practical Nurse Operating Room Technician (LPN ORT) assists with assessing, planning, implementing resources and evaluating the perioperative care of the patients in the surgical suite. The LPN ORT functions as a team member and works collaboratively with other disciplines within the surgical suite. The LPN ORT will act in accordance with hospital wide guidelines and policies and within the scope of practice of the LPN ORT operating room roles. This is not a training position.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited peri-operative program. Current experience in an acute peri-operative role (within the past 2 years). Experienced in Urology and Ophthalmology Services. Ability to act as a patient advocate. Ability to assume responsibility for own actions. Ability to function collaboratively and effectively as an interdisciplinary team member while upholding the values of respect, partnership and continuous improvement. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality with information. Flexibility to rotate through all surgical specialties, Ability to work shift and call as scheduled. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. Ability to work in a high stress environment with appropriate responses. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours supporting the surgical team. Repeated contact with radio-graphic procedures and the ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time. Current N95 fit testing required. Computer Skills.
