Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) looking to work to their full-scope of practice with a passion for providing Patient & Family Centered Care at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre (NLRHC), located in the energetic and vibrant community of Fort McMurray. As a Licensed Practical Nurse - Acute Inpatient Medicine, you will be working within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing our values (AHS Cares) and Patient First Strategy in your practice to provide leading care to Albertans. As a LPN you will be providing nursing care using the nursing process across the continuum of care, with the purpose of providing safe, quality care for patients and their families while reflecting the shared vision of Alberta Health Services. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Alberta Health Services policies and procedures. As a member of the NLRHC team, you play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and health maintenance. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum two (2) years experience working on a Medical or Surgical Unit. Demonstrated strong decision making and problem solving skills. Strong assessment skills. Proven written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to professional development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of CoACT Collaborative Care and Patient & Family Centered Care. Experience with Meditech, Netcare, and Outlook preferred.
