Your Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to be part of our multidisciplinary team at the General Internal Medicine, Obstetrical Internal Medicine and Thrombosis clinic at Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Centre. The nursing role in this clinic is to coordinate clinic flow, assess patients before they are seen by the physician, assist patients with the coordination of diagnostic testing and medication management in the community, and symptom assessments via phone when necessary. This position involves working in a fast-paced, clinic which involves extensive documentation of assessment and medication history. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, have excellent critical thinking, organizational and time management skills. The nurse needs to work well independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment. The nurse will provide leadership in planning, implementation and evaluation of care of patients to promote, maintain and restore health. We are looking for a nurse that has strong patient teaching skills and can support patients living with chronic conditions.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to work to a full scope of practice as defined by CLPNA. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). A minimum of 2-4 years of recent (within the past 5 years) adult acute care LPN experience. Recent medical experience required (within the past 5 years). Recent nursing experience (within the past 3 years) in an outpatient clinic. Demonstrated critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize and prioritize work. Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated excellence in communication. Demonstrated ability to explain complex medical diseases, treatments and/or tests to patients. Demonstrated ability to assist patients, move equipment, walk, bend and stand frequently during a period of work. Demonstrated ability to work well with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent internal medicine experience. Case management experience Demonstrated patient teaching experience. Experience using Connect Care and Netcare
