The High River General Hospital Long-Term Care (LTC) is home to 50 Elderly Residents. Nestled 66.5 kms south of Calgary in the beautiful community of High River, Alberta. The vibrant High River Hospital offers an excellent rural nursing opportunity in a unique and diverse Alberta health services care facility. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in LTC works in a Resident Family Centered Care environment that focuses on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of the Residents and their families in a home like setting. The LPN will work collaboratively with a variety of disciplines including Registered Nurses (RN) Health Care Aides (HCA), Rehabilitation Staff, Recreation Therapy, Pharmacy and the Physicians group with the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health. The LPN works to their full scope of practice including assessment, planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of Resident care. The LPN actively engages in health promotion, chronic disease management and enhancing the Residents activities of daily living. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:As Required.
Preferred Qualifications:2-5 years Nursing Experience in an Adult Acute Care or LTC setting preferred. Experience and current competency with the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI). Completion of Supportive Pathways or equivalent dementia care education or experience will be considered a preferred asset. Time management and organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a care team. Palliative Care experience will be considered a preferred asset.
