The South Health Campus (SHC) operates under four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars guide the delivery of care to patients and families at SHC. The Ambulatory Neuroscience Clinics at SHC include General Neurology, Neurovestibular, ALS, Epilepsy, Cognitive Clinic, Stroke Prevention, Neuromuscular, MS, Neuroimmunology, Movement Disorders, Functional Neurological Disorder, and the Calgary Headache Assessment and Management Program (CHAMP). The Ambulatory Neuroscience Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will support multiple neurology clinics, including but not limited to Stroke Prevention Clinic. This LPN role requires specialized knowledge and clinical skill to provide care, education, and management for patients affected by neurological conditions. The LPN works closely with the interdisciplinary team and community partners to support patients across the care continuum. This position involves a high level of independence within a collaborative clinic environment. Responsibilities include rooming patients, medication reconciliation, assessments, care planning, coordinating tests, supporting clinic flow, managing patient calls, and assisting with in-clinic testing. Ongoing education of patients, families, and team members is a key aspect of the role. The LPN is also responsible for accurate documentation and clinical record maintenance. The successful candidate will be accountable for their practice and ensure compliance with CLPNA legislation and standards.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:2 years Ambulatory care experience required within the past 3 years. Physically able to manage extended periods of walking, standing, sitting, lifting, pushing and pulling. Possesses an in-depth knowledge of Neurosciences and Neurologic conditions. Ability to coordinate ongoing care through collaboration with community agencies, homecare, long-term care, and hospital-based services. Ability to provide psychosocial support, education and information to patients and their families pertaining to their diagnosis and functional needs. Ability to act as a team member in planning client care and in program development. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, telephone, verbal and written means, in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills. Proficiency of Connect Care, specifically working in Ambulatory and Netcare with recent regular use within the past 1 year. Experience with Microsoft Windows, Excel, and PowerPoint, within the past year. Demonstrates proficiency in clinical assessment skills within scope of practice. Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills. Demonstrates high functioning time management, prioritization and organizational skills required to function in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in Ambulatory Neurology Clinics, including Stroke clinic within past 1 year. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and independence of nursing practice in a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care. Demonstrates effective patient teaching.
