The Day Medicine Department is currently recruiting for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The Day Medicine LPN, reporting to the Unit Manager of Unit 61 and Day Medicine, works collaboratively as a member of the team to ensure the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and education to meet the needs of the patients and families accessing the Day Medicine services. Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is Calgary’s second largest tertiary care site. Located in the city’s Southwest, it provides acute, outpatient, critical care, surgical, medical, neonatal intensive care, mental health, seniors, women’s, and emergency health services. The facility is home to two units dedicated to the Acute Geriatric Units (AGU) for the Calgary Zone. Each year, RGH sees approximately 47,000 Medical Outpatients.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 4 years of acute care medical/surgical clinical experience in the last 6 years required. Central Vascular Access Device certification required. PICC certification required. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment, constant walking, lifting, and bending are necessary. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and independence of nursing practice in a highly functioning team environment. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to connect with patients and their families and build productive professional relationships with team members and other health care professionals.
Preferred Qualifications:Phlebotomy experience. Procedural sedation experience. Experience administering IV ketamine. Previous Day Medicine Experience.
