Our Public Health team has a great opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team and be part of our culture and positive working environment. As the LPN, you will represent Public Health in delivering primary health services to individuals, families, groups and communities. The incumbent will effectively use the nursing process to deliver safe, ethical and patient/family centered health care, with attention to diversity and the social determinants of health. Focus is on improving access to immunization services; to identify and strategically overcome barriers to immunization; and to form partnerships with community agencies to immunize hard to reach populations. The successful candidate will demonstrate critical thinking skills, is self-motivated, respectful, possesses conflict management skills, is accountable, able to hold themselves to a high level of integrity, and is patient and community minded: someone who is passionate about making positive impacts on the communities they serve. The PHN provides practical care including the promotion of wellness, prevention of illness, and to maintain and restore health and social well-being. Where acuity/complexity of patient/client requires, or as directed, confer with other professionals accountable for clinical leadership. Other Duties as required. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved immunization course within the first three months of employment. Proof must be provided within six months of start date in this role. The LPN working in Public Health is required to conduct work both in a clinic setting as well as community settings including in the school setting. External environmental considerations would impact working conditions. The PHN is required to pack, lift, move, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites. LPNs working in Public Health are required to perform physical duties including: gathering clinical supplies, accessing upper and lower cabinetry, moving clinical supplies to community clinics, home visits, bending, crouching to support feeding/immunization of young kids, moving up to 50 pounds at times, navigate awkward positions. Service delivery may require walking several blocks and climbing several flights of stairs, awkward and repetitive movements, sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods of time. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, electronic charting, and data entry required. Valid Drivers license and comfortable to drive in all weather conditions, both within urban and rural areas is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years recent Licensed Practical Nurse experience preferred. Related experience preferred, particularly in the community. Previous public health and health promotion experience an asset.
