This is an exciting opportunity to join the Pediatrics team at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. We are an interdisciplinary team who provides care to Pediatrics patients requiring Medical, Surgical and/or Psychiatric care. We support our fellow departments within the Women & Children's Health Portfolio. Staff also provide care to Adult patients as needed.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:2-3 years acute care experience. Strong assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient/client change in status. Patient transfer assessment skills. Communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of specific patients/clients, and to relay patient/client information to physicians who are often off-site in a concise, accurate manner in order to facilitate the physician’s treatment decisions. Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills. Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment and to effectively contribute to patient/client care planning processes. Reliable and dependable. Strong written and verbal communication required. Demonstrated leadership skills required. Demonstrated skills in conflict management. Ability to safeguard AHS information as private and confidential. Ability to follow and adhere to AHS policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference given to those who have Pediatrics experience. Proven technical and clinical skills pertinent to Pediatric nursing preferred. Knowledge of new/current trends in Pediatrics nursing preferred. Current pediatric IV therapy/experience preferred. Current knowledge of Cardio/Respiratory monitoring preferred. Pediatric Mental Health experience beneficial.
