Licensed Practical Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate will report to the Clinic Manager of the Medical Outpatient Unit located at the Walter Mackenzie Health Center and the Adult Day Medicine located at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. The incumbent will be required to work at both locations. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care by providing direct care and by delegating care to other appropriate personnel to maintain the flow of the unit. The LPN assesses patient/family education needs and plans, implements, and evaluates education strategies. These are very fast paced clinics with multiple competing demands and the LPN must be able to respond to adverse patient events quickly and competently. Care is provided to a variety of patients from different adult specialties requiring IV Infusions such as chemotherapy, transfusion of blood components/products and specialty therapies. The LPN must be competent in several medical procedures including but not limited to monitoring drains, post organ biopsy care, maintenance and care of Central Vascular Access devices (including blood withdrawal and occlusion management), therapeutic phlebotomy and complex wound care. The incumbent must possess strong de-escalation/conflict management skills. The LPN must be able to stand for long periods, have strong time management skills, be able to prioritize and work well under pressure. The nurse must also be able to work independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members and colleagues.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Active registration and practice permit with the CLPNa required Graduation from a recognized nursing education program Physical ability to perform CPR on Adult Clients is required Must be able to lift and carry 10-15 kg regularly Must be able to participate and perform hands on care of patients and ulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, long periods of keyboarding, walking long distances, and standing for prolonged periods of time Minimum of recent (within 2 years) adult acute care experience in Medicine or Surgery or ambulatory infusion nurse required IV certification and experience, as well as use and maintenance of Central Venous Access Device is required Connect Care experience is required, preference is Ambulatory Shared Clinic Nurse and Oncology/Hematology Infusion/Clinic Nurse Recent (within 2 years) wound care assessment and management skills are required Competency (within 2 years) experience in administering chemotherapy via intravenous, oral, and subcutaneous routes with OPREP certification required Must have excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to participate as an interdisciplinary team member.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in performing therapeutic phlebotomy
