The successful applicant has the option to work out of our Ponoka or Red Deer office and is eligible for a remote hybrid agreement after a period or orientation. The Virtual Rapid Access Addiction Medicine program provides non-judgmental care to individuals seeking counselling, medical care, or other therapeutic interventions for substance use and addiction issues. As a LPN you will be working with an interdisciplinary team to provide treatment and help coordinate care for clients. The successful candidate will have the ability to work within a team environment as well as being able to function with minimal supervision. This position provides quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as maintaining positive liaisons with community and provincial stakeholders. Within this role, the incumbent will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. Provides consultation with community Physicians, Pharmacists, and other mental health and addictions supports. The incumbent will also remain current and up-to-date on addictions treatment theory and principles. Your understanding, passion and experience in addiction medicine is essential, as well as excellent computer, texting and telephone etiquette, because you will be monitoring and evaluating client progress via telehealth and telephone. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Recovery Alberta policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Excellent knowledge of addictions and mental illness. Must be competent in identifying clients at risk and completing a suicide risk assessment. Knowledge of Suboxone/buprenorphine and Methadone. Advanced computer literacy. Above average keyboarding skills and proficient with computer programs – Outlook, MS Office, Connect Care, ASIST, etc.
