Rimbey Long Term Care is an 84 bed unit located in a rural setting where Licensed Practical Nurse work under the supervision of Registered Nurses within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide client and family centered care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease or other dementias. Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Extensive knowledge of Care planning and tracking tools, InterRai LTCF, Netcare, CCHSS, Microsoft office- Excel and word, Connect care. Must have moderate computer skills, with a working knowledge of office equipment. Great interpersonal communication skills, experience in conflict management and Nonviolent crisis intervention, ability to multitask and be a critical thinker in stressful and challenging situations. Dementia care and management of adverse behaviors. Be comfortable in a team working environment as well as ability to work independently with critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:An understanding of wound care process, behavioral management and conflict resolution, as well as training in the Continuing care Facility Living Nurse connect care course would be an asset.
