Your Opportunity:

If you are an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse looking for new opportunities to work to your full scope of practice, this position in Galahad might be for you! Strong critical thinking and assessment skills are necessary in this position to provide excellent dementia care to our residents. In this position you are caring for 20 Continuing Care residents in a small facility that focusses on the delivery of excellent patient and family centered care. Galahad Care Centre has all the perks of small town living including a very active recreation program and volunteer program that provides an individualized experience for each resident. This position is suitable for Licensed Practical Nurses who have recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education, completed a rural practicum, or a gerontology practicum, or a practicum on a Medicine Unit, will be considered. The Village of Galahad is situated less than 100 km from Camrose, just north of the beautiful Battle River valley, between Killam and Castor, east of Forestburg. Our town is a quiet family-oriented municipality of about a 150 strong with a mix of all age groups with a great school system to support young families of the area. Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

This position requires frequent physical demands including walking, bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time. Transferring patients of varying sizes and degrees of mobility. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Must be able to work in an interdisciplinary team environment as well as to work independently to full scope of LPN practice. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of rural Nurse experience, gerontology experience, or Medicine Unit experience. Experience with Connect Care.
