Required Qualifications:

Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) or Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution is required. A minimum of two years of direct professional experience in a health sciences library and demonstrated expert searching skills. Proficiency in information technology and computer applications used in libraries. Proven experience, skill, and understanding of advanced health sciences literature searching techniques and resources.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively managing and setting priorities when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and communicate using online tools. Demonstrates flexibility, initiative and high degree of organizational skill, accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively in a professional and service-oriented manner. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team. Ability to effectively manage and set priorities when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to resolve conflict in a timely and professional manner. Ability to follow and adhere to Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Ability to safeguard Alberta Health Services information as private and confidential. Effective time management and multi-tasking abilities. Ability to create and document workflows and processes. Ability to solve complex problems that fall outside of standard procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree in health sciences or life sciences would be advantageous. Beneficial memberships include: Canadian Health Libraries Association (CHLA), Northern Alberta Health Libraries Association (NAHLA), Southern Alberta Libraries Association (SAHLA), and/or the Medical Library Association (MLA).
