Required Qualifications:

Qualified to practice law in Alberta and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta. At least five years' legal practice (excluding articling year) with a commercial focus. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong negotiation and legal drafting skills. Motivated to learn, independent, self-starter. Proficient at prioritizing and dealing with multiple assignments, all under significant time and other pressures. Proven ability to work with senior management. Ability to balance business considerations against legal risks to formulate creative legal solutions that advance client needs. Strong commitment to adapting and operating within a team environment and the ability to work well independently and with others to achieve common goals. Superior organizational and influential skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Due to the professional nature of this position, actual hours worked may exceed those expected in a “regular” work week.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a life sciences or academic setting working with industry sponsors, government agencies, and large healthcare companies. Knowledge of laws, regulations and industry standards governing clinical trials. Knowledge of AHS and University of Alberta policies, procedures and standards/guidelines.
